Hello, I’m glad you’re here.

I’m the author of HumanKind, which explores what it means to be human through facets of culture, identity, creativity and mindfulness, all while contemplating the essence of living a quiet, slow and simple life.

While I love to write, I cannot say I particularly enjoy writing my own about me section. To label me as any certain thing feels so, oh, I don't know, stagnant. To say I am this, reduces me to a noun, when my life and identity are much more fluid than that, like a verb.

I am a writer. Full stop.
I am writing.
There is more to this story.

Perhaps the only thing that is essential to my identity is that,
I am a human.

Flawed. Complex. Evolving. Aging. Often, contradictory.

I imagine a lot like you.

As for the things that occupy my time…

During the day, my profession is that of a journalist. At night, I write poetry, prose or whatever stream of consciousness comes out of me. I also work as a photographer and now reserve that craft for passion projects. Writing and photography will always be a part of my life, intertwined together.

The most significant bits of my life I tend to keep offline. My partner and I have wonderful children and we like to do fun and simple things. Or, whatever simple things you can do with young children whose minds are curious and bodies are much more energetic than mine.

That being said, I do love movement. Yoga. Walking beneath the swaying trees that for hundreds of years have witnessed others walking before me.

I like books, music, cooking. I like deep conversations. I love to travel. I like to observe things and contemplate the meaning of life. So I'm a bit of a daydreamer, for better or worse.

I love love sitting on a bench in the middle of a big city with nothing to do but listen, write and wonder, sipping on tea with my notebook in hand. The feeling of being alone, but of course, not alone at all.

I also love sitting in the middle of an empty field listening to stillness. So much truth is revealed when the mind is finally able to quiet itself.

Quietness and stillness keep me centered.

And sometimes, I write centered like this: centred, because I'm both Canadian and American, although originally European of some descent. I reside in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and I am here to learn.

I hope these things have given you a glimpse into who I am.

If you've made it this far, I hope you understand my writing style. Perhaps, I'm not the writer for you, and that is okay.

Perhaps, I am just the writer you were hoping to find.

Either way, thanks for stopping by.

PS: There's a lot of darkness out there. Remember to keep your light shining.
